The feast of the Madonna del Ponte takes place in Acquarica del Capo, on the first Sunday after the 8th of September each year. The festival is held near the small Chapel of the Madonna del Ponte, outside the walls, and in the town with a procession involving a crowd of faithful. The religious celebrations are accompanied by a fair dedicated to local products.

The origins of this feast are tied to the Cappella della Madonna del Ponte located outside the walls of the town, in which a wooden statue, of the second half of the eighteenth century, of Maria Bambina is kept; according to some folk tales, it was preserved despite the violent flood that struck the area. Legend has it that the heavy rains and gusts of wind were stopped by the sudden sound of the bells of the chapel. In memory of this miracle, the people of Acquarica del Capo renew annually their devotion to the Madonna del Ponte.
